CIPR Qualifications

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations takes a leading role in Europe in education and training for the communication industry.

The Advanced Certificate and Diploma educational programs are owned by the CIPR, which is responsible for appointing the examiners and controlling and maintaining the level and quality of the syllabus.

Advanced Certificate in PR

The Advanced Certificate Course is created for:

• people with higher education, who are interested in pursuing a career in public relations and who have been working in the business, at fairly junior levels for at least one year.

Those achieving success on the Advanced Certificate Course will qualify for entry to the CIPR Diploma. The Advanced Certificate Course provides the basic knowledge and understanding of theory and practice necessary to enable students to begin to develop as effective and efficient professionals. The Diploma course builds upon the knowledge and understanding that are given at the Advanced Certificate level.

On completion of the course candidates are eligible for Associate membership (ACIPR) that allows them to have an access to the research results and resources of the association. The graduates are also eligible for the membership in the Ukrainian Association of Public Relations (UAPR).

  

Diploma in PR

The Diploma level is for more experienced professionals that already have Advanced Certificate qualification.

The course provides an understanding of the strategic roles and functions of the public relations practitioner. Students will appreciate the practice of public relations as a management function and be encouraged to analyze critically. The Diploma provides public relations practitioners with the knowledge and understanding of theory and practice to develop as effective and efficient professionals.

The Diploma Course is created for:

• those who have successfully obtained the Advanced Certificate qualification and are interested in pursuing a career in public relations as a strategic PR manager.

Diploma graduates are awarded with the Associate membership (ACIPR) that allows them to have an access to the research results and resources of the association. The graduates are also eligible for the membership in the Ukrainian Association of Public Relations (UAPR).

 

CIPR QUALIFICATIONS FACTS AND FIGURES

- The CIPR Diploma and Advanced Certificate were established in September 1998.

- Today the Diploma is offered at 12 UK centres and 9 overseas centres (in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Athens, Egypt, Croatia, Syria, Romania, Qatar and Ukraine).

- The Advanced Certificate is run at 10 centres across the UK and at 1 centre in the Ukraine.

- In the 2008/09 academic year, 292 gained the Diploma; and 188 students gained the Advanced Certificate.

- To date, around 1950 students have been awarded the Diploma; and 1150 have been awarded the Advanced Certificate.
