Center of Business Social Responsibility and Business Ethics was created in International Institute of Business in 2010.

Partners:

  • Center of Corporate Social Responsibility Development;
  • Union of Applied and Professional Ethics.

The major goal of the Center is stimulating institutional forms of CSR and business ethics development in Ukraine via arranging studying, consulting, holding researches, preparation of publications, and methodological recommendations.

Tasks:

  • Activity on forming corporate culture in Ukraine according to the ethical values and the CSR highest standards as a part of general business strategy of modern enterprises development via educational programs, trainings and their methodological support.
  • Expertise of ethics codes, CSR programs, social projects and reports according to international standards and recommendations of multinational corporate culture; evaluation of social technologies effectiveness.
  • Holding problem seminars and trainings adapted to realistic circumstances of running business in Ukraine; methodologies of writing reports as an instrument of managing CSR; stimulating stable development of business organizations.
  • Studying and generalization of social initiatives, and supporting them with social investments from Ukrainian businesses; analyses of charity to CSR forms of transition; correspondence of social partnership and cooperation with existing needs of different regions citizens where the company operates; assistance to local communities; comparison of our experience with international practice.
  • Consulting managers on different aspects of CSR in labor relations, attracting colleagues to form the society development strategy, philosophy, and general ethics values in organization, active integration of business to the world of social responsibility, mastering regulatory instruments which are used in other countries for CSR principles promotion.

The issue of reformation needs and ways of Ukrainian legislation changes was discussed on the event.

Alexandr Savchenko, Head of IIB Supervisory Board, was moderator of the round table.

On April 23, 2010 the Council of Independent Accountants and Auditors (CIAA) organized international conference "International Integration in Accounting and Auditing" in Kyiv, which was dedicated to the necessity of IFRS implementation in Ukraine as one of main factors for improvement of countryís investment attractiveness. The International Institute of Business acted as a partner of the conference.

Five years ago the cohort of 7 students completed successfully the study at Diploma level of CIPR and was awarded by CIPR Diplomas in Ukraine. To commemorate 5th Anniversary of this remarkable event, IIB has a pleasure to invite CIPR programs graduates, students, tutors, potential clients; all people who are interested in further development of powerful and civilized PR industry in Ukraine to attend the Annual Meeting which is scheduled on April 24, 2010.

Students and graduates of Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) attended the event.

Hlib Vyshlinsky, Custom Research Director at GfK Ukraine, was invited in capacity of an expert. The topics discussed were concerning PR and democracy, constitutional norms regarding elections as well as case studies on electoral preferences and campaign communication. Participants took active part in discussion.

IIB as CIPR accredited study centre in Ukraine invites representatives of national CIPR team encountering more than 80 members to attend other events we are planning to organize and deliver at IIB in upcoming period.

CIPR Careers Day (April 24 2010)

The project is "Structuring the organisation to align the sales and selling needs with the resources available to meet new market conditions". Main objective of the project is to improve Executive Development Programs.

On December, 12 in forth time the graduates of International MBA program gathered in the conference hall. This year among the graduates were top managers of leading Ukrainian and foreign companies: KIY AVIA, ERSTE BANK, Kyivstar, BUNGE, MILI, etc.

In 1965 graduated Templskyy University in Philadelphia. Also studied in Vienna and Hamburg University. Ph.D. received in 1973 from Harvard University, defended his thesis "reluctantly allies: Philip Orlik and his relations with the Crimean Khanate and the Ottoman Empire. 1708-1742.

On October, 16 Volodymyr Zabolotny was appointment to the position of IIB President (Rector) according to the resolution of IIB Supervisory Board.

December 2-4, 2009 in the framework of the Franchising Forum 2009: "Franchising - The recipe for effective growth of industrial and commercial enterprises in the areas of crisis" International Institute of Business presented its management training program in Ukraine and projects open training workshops for middle and small business.

International Institute of Business took part in the research held by EDUNIVERSAL. IIB was admitted a business school ¹1 in Ukraine for its authority on the market of business education and its international influence. The research offers to describe the best academic opportunities for students zone by zone, via a range of academic institutions with different types of reputation and international ambitions, within the 9 geographic zones.

Academic year of 9 th cohort of Executive MBA students started on October, 14, 2009.

Traditionally the program began with 3-days out of city introductory strategic session. This year the session was held by Gennady Yushkin who has great experience in the sphere of financial management, strategic planning and organizational development. Executive MBA students took part in business game which simulates real situations of company’s functioning taking into account situation on the market, competition, formation of new products and other factors that influence activity of real business. This approach gives the students an opportunity to get to know each other better and acquire additional practical skills.

The program’s first Module was devoted to the strategies and practices of HR management in new circumstances of business functioning

In the circumstances of business transformation one of the key roles belongs to HR. The peculiarities of modern economics inspired the project’s authors to work out a unique educational program aimed at rendering real assistance to business practitioners.

According to the results of Module 1 of the program, the audience acquired knowledge and skills of defining the strategic importance of HR in different business functioning circumstances, learnt to work out the HR management strategy on their own.

On September, 28, new academic year of Ukrainian-Canadian Business Administration program has started in IIB.

This year IIB has offered clients Ukrainian Business Administration program and Canadian Management Studies program in a new format which allow students to take advantage of innovative approach in programs delivery and achieve better synergy between two programs combining the best Ukrainian practice with Canadian learning standards and incorporating international experience in study process.

The Fifth PR-forum will take place on the international exhibition of advertising, marketing and mass-media REX 2009. This event will held on September, 30, 2009 and permanently causes large interest for specialists. This year PR-forum takes place under an aegis of Ukrainian PR-alliance (UPRA).

The main subject of PR-forum - "Ukrainian PR: trials in the past, but prospects in future".

On July, 8 – 12 the International MBA regular educational module took place during which students studied the course "Building the trust in Cross-Cultural Communications". The distinguish feature of the module was the first time when the students of IIB International MBA program and 7 students of MBA program from the University Alaska SouthEast, USA gathered in one classroom room to study " cross-cultural communications". The idea to bring together MBA students from Ukraine and USA belongs to Dr. Yulia Ivanova, Associate Professor of Management School of the University Alaska SouthEast.

Julia whose roots in Belarus authored the course for students and excellently fulfilled the mission of a course moderator and instructor in auditorium consisting of representatives of several countries – Ukraine, USA, Latvia, Moldova, Brazil, and Russia. Close communication during the module, discussions in the class, work in groups and preparation of group presentations, projects, informal communication during barbeque party, coffee brakes etc. gave an opportunity to understand each other better, feel differences and similarities, learn how to develop business relations with representatives of different countries and cultures.

International Institute of Business has been acknowledged as outstanding business school – "Excellent business school, nationally strong with continental links", and awarded with 3 Palms considering its international influence and authority on business education market.

According to EDUNIVERSAL international influence of every business school can be defined by behavior and confidence of its alumni and, correspondingly, by job opportunities it provides in their country and abroad.

Internship Program, which is 7 weeks long training on the basis of companies in Canada or Ukraine is an important part of a studying process on management diploma program. The assistance in search of Canadian companies and enterprises which will host the students from Ukraine is fulfilled by Grant MacEwan College. While selecting the companies, students` preferences pertaining to the branch or sphere of company’s activity were taken into consideration.

Years of studying flew by unnoticeably and the graduates of Ukrainian Program for Business Administration, Professional Diploma and Professional Postgraduate Diploma Programs of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Advanced Diploma of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Advanced Certificate and Diploma of The Chartered Institute Of Public Relations (CIPR) gathered in the conference hall of a new building of International Institute of Business for a solemn ceremony of graduation.

Dr. Alexander Mertens, IIB President opened the ceremony congratulating the graduates with successful graduation of the programs, wishing not to stop on the succeed and to continue moving ahead.

The traditional international module of Executive MBA program was held at the beginning of May in one of the biggest financial centers of the world- Zurich. In the frames of this module, organized by IIB jointly with its partner Swiss Business School, students studied such courses as International Financial Management and Venture Capital and Private Equity.

During intense two weeks students had a possibility not only theoretically, but also practically study the mechanisms of financial statements work and large international companies’ practice. Executive MBA students had the meetings with managers of such companies as Philip Morris and Tissot. Students had an opportunity to learn how the companies manage to operate in the crisis period, to look behind the "Zurich airport scenes" and to observe the best operational management and project management practice.

International MBA students came forward with the initiative – to start realizing the program of attracting money for Library and Resource Centre development at International Institute of Business. The goal of the project is to approach the IIB library to the level that will correspond the best standards of providing libraries with literature - the standards which now exist at leading business schools in the world.

The new building was designed and built in accordance with the world’s best standards of business schools and will afford a new level of comfort for our partners, clients, students and professors. Located in a green zone of Kyiv (a few minutes from Zhitormirskaya metro station), the new campus will furnish you with a comfortable learning environment worthy of Ukraine’s leading business school.

The CIMA qualification remains a global quality standard in management accounting.

From February 2009, a new opportunity will appear in Ukraine – to become a student on the CIMA Strategic Level program.

On the 10th December, 2008, in the frames of Guest Speakers Series, students on the IIB MBA programs met with Valeriy Pyatnitskiy, Deputy Minister of Ukrainian Economics, who spoke of the possibilities and problems for Ukrainian businessmen and entrepreneurs connected with the accession of Ukraine to the World Trade Organization.

According to Mr. Pyatnitskiy at present Ukrainian business does not really actively use the possibilities which membership in this prestigious international organization affords. Ukrainian importers and exporters co-operate in the acquisition of operating information, the Ukrainian Ministry of Economics has undertaken to create the Centre for Processing Enquiries of Member-States of the WTO. The fundamental task of the centre is to inform interested organizations and companies of the terms of trade, tariff policy, duties, and also to render assistance for the effective co-operation and operational exchange of information and documents with the WTO Secretariat and WTO members. The centre sheds light on the activities of the organs of state power concerning the preparation of official correspondence (notification) and provides answers to enquiries into active norms and the establishing of new rules in the field of international trade.

The International Institute of Business invites alumni and students of the IIB MBA to the regular meeting of the MBA Club which takes place on the 13th December 2008 at 51 Degtyarevskaya Street, in the second floor conference hall. It will commence at 14.00. Registration of participants will begin at 13.30.

The theme of the MBA Club will be "Crisis – Problem or Opportunities?". The following topics will be discussed around the table:

• Macroeconomics: scenarios and forecasts for 2009.

• Improving the effectiveness of a business and business processes (Moderator: G. Kanishchenko, Managing Partner of "Strategic Masterminds")

• Building the trust and value of a company in a period of crisis: the real value of reputation (Moderator: M. Starodubska, Managing Partner, "Mikhailov and Partners, Ukraine")

• Human Resource Management in conditions of transformation: paradoxes, challenges, possibilities (Moderator: R. Lemeshchuk, consultancy firm "AB-Capital")

• Managing an enterprise in conditions of crisis: a paradigm of anti-crisis measures (Moderator: V. Savchuk, consultancy firm "Strategic Partner".

In November of this year the Centre for the Development of Property at the International Institute of Business released a completely new product onto the Ukrainian business education market – the first certified course on preparing developers in the sphere of real estate.

Between the 13th and 15th November the first module of the course commenced: "The content of developer activities. The practice of reducing property and regulatory risks in the formalization of rights to real estate development".

Nick Cotton, managing director of the company DTZ in Ukraine, declared the module open, having talked about the fundamental tendencies of Kiev’s real estate market in its various segments and about the possibilities to develop the market in conditions of crisis.

The International Institute of Business is running the program "Improving the effectiveness of managing the branch network of a bank" for managers and deputy-managers of the branches of PC "Ukreximbank".

The fundamental aims of the program are to provide management with a holistic understanding of the branch network and the tasks and strategic direction of developing a sales system.

Natalya Pisarenko, director of the IIB Centre for Marketing Innovation and Irina Ulyanova, IIB visiting professor, familiarized students with the instruments and technologies in the sphere of strategic and operational management in the process of executing the professional functions of management of the corporate and retail sectors of a company at different levels of management.
